Who can join the Dark Dialogue Collective?

Anyone age 18 or older with a sincere interest in helping missing persons cases is welcome to apply. No experience is required — we have opportunities for everyone, from licensed professionals to everyday people who want to make a difference.

Do I need special training or certifications?

Not at all. While we welcome certified professionals (e.g., drone pilots, EMTs, therapists), many roles are open to anyone. We provide guidance for each assignment based on your skillset and comfort level.

Is this only for people in the U.S.?

No. The Collective is open globally. We have roles for people in any country — including digital-only tasks like research, mapping, and translation. Some field missions are U.S.-based, but remote roles are always needed.

Will I be required to travel?

Only if you’ve opted in for travel-based roles. You will never be asked to go anywhere unless you’ve indicated you're willing and available. Many volunteers assist entirely online.

How often will I be contacted or activated?

We reach out only when a case matches your skills or region. Some volunteers may be contacted within days of applying; others may not be called for weeks or months, depending on active needs.

What kind of cases does the Collective work on?

We support real-world missing persons cases — both recent and cold — especially those that are underserved, forgotten, or without current media attention. Some may be featured in Dark Dialogue episodes, but most are separate from podcast content.

How will I know if Iโ€™ve been accepted?

Once you submit the volunteer form, our team reviews your application manually. If accepted, you’ll receive a welcome email with next steps. We aim to respond within 7–10 days.

What does a digital/remote volunteer actually do?

Remote volunteers help in dozens of ways: building case timelines, researching records, organizing data, creating maps, monitoring social media, translating materials, or providing emotional support to families.

Can I change my availability or role after joining?

Yes — anytime. Just contact us or resubmit the form with updated information. You are never “locked in” to one type of participation.

Is there any training provided?

For some roles (e.g., crisis support, mapping, or drone flights), we may offer links to recommended free or low-cost training resources. You’ll never be asked to take on a role without clear instructions.

How do I submit certifications or licenses?

When you fill out the signup form, you can upload documents directly (e.g., drone licenses, CPR cards, therapy credentials). You can also email updates later if needed.

Is my personal information kept private?

Yes. We never share your information publicly or with outside organizations. Your contact info is only used internally to coordinate mission efforts.

Can I volunteer anonymously?

We need your real name and contact information for mission coordination, but you may request to remain unnamed in public-facing efforts, such as case credits or media.

What if I witness something unsafe, unethical, or illegal?

Please report any concern directly to our admin team at info@darkdialogue.com. We take all safety, legal, and ethical violations seriously.
